Our newest and most exciting endeavor is coming soon! SAGE Speech is partnering with the Sandy Springs Public Library to offer a day of FREE Speech and Language Screenings. (click here to view the library website). We are thrilled to provide the community with the opportunity to seek guidance from nationally certified and licensed Speech Language Pathologists. With these screenings we will be offering an opportunity for your child to be screened for Speech & Language delays. These screenings are optional and FREE to the public. Saren Schapiro, M. Sc, CCC-SLP, the founding Speech-Language Pathologist at SAGE Speech & Learning Associates, will be conducting your child's screening for Speech-Language development. The screenings are tentatively scheduled for May 4th, from 10 AM to 2 PM, providing the Fulton County Library is not undergoing the pending renovations. Should renovations begin prior to May 4th, a new location will be announced, so please check SAGE Speech and Learning Associates Facebook page regularly for sign-up details and location confirmation.
Screenings are appropriate for ages 18 months years to 7 years. Each screening lasts 15-20 minutes per family. A parent is required to be present! Should you have concerns in other areas of development, SAGE Speech & Learning also offers partnership services with Occupational Therapists, Reading Specialists and Psychologists. These professionals will not be present at the (FREE) screening day, but referrals can be made, if needed.

Who should seek a Speech and Language Screening for their child? It is important to understand that there is PLENTY of variability in the preschool ages. Speech Language Pathologists do adhere to guidelines of child development set forth by the American Speech Language Hearing Association, ASHA. If you have any concern about your child's development, a screening is the perfect way to get your questions answered!
During the screening, the Speech Language Pathologist will screen speech sounds/articulation, comprehension of language and expression of language. We will be looking for any red flags that may signal a need for further assessment.
Early intervention is incredibly important to prevent difficulty in the later preschool or early elementary years!
