SAGE Speech & Learning is the ONLY practice in Georgia that is trained and certified to provide the Lidcombe Program for stuttering.

Stuttering therapy in Atlanta is scarce, and much of it not based in solid evidence. SAGE Speech offers stuttering therapy in Atlanta for children in preschool and older.

What is the Lidcombe Program?

The Lidcombe Program is a direct, behavioral program for stuttering therapy. It has the largest and strongest evidence base of all direct stuttering treatments for preschool aged children. The program is ideal for ages 3-6, but can be done successfully with children older than 6 and into elementary school.

When should I seek treatment?

When you notice your child is stuttering, seek out professional advice immediately from a speech therapist who specializes in stuttering. Stuttering can sometimes disappear within 3-6 months of onset. Let the therapist monitor your child to be sure stuttering therapy is started as soon as your child needs it. Your stuttering therapist may recommend waiting 3 months and checking back in. However, based on known risk factors, your stuttering therapist may recommend beginning treatment immediately.

Take video of your child when they stutter, this will help your stuttering therapist during your first office visit.
