If you are a therapist, practice owner, physician, or professional who falls under HIPAA you MUST read this!

Whether you own a practice or fly solo, it is imperative that you know where you stand under HIPAA regulations. If you think you are compliant, you probably aren't. If you think you fly under the radar, you probably don't. The government has increased their audits of small practices and solo practitioners almost ten-fold in the last 5 years!

Ruined reputations and fines are just not worth it!

So"¦how do small practices and practitioners afford to become HIPAA compliant?

How do we know we are doing it right??

Last week I had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Durrett, of The Durrett Firm.  Dana is a health care attorney who specializes in small and medium sized practices. Dana recently opened his own practice to focus on making it simple and affordable for professionals like us to be HIPAA compliant. This is truly a WIN for the small guys!

I spent an hour with Dana discussing my speech pathology practice, SAGE Speech & Learning Associates.  In our unique situation, our speech therapists work in the home, school and clinic settings.  This can become a HIPAA nightmare!

Dana asked pointed questions then laid out specific areas we needed to ensure we are compliant.  In addition, Dana provided simple and quick solutions, AND provided all patient forms, policy documents, and paperwork my practice needs to be compliant.

What was once overwhelming became clear and easy. It took me one hour that evening updating my patient forms, employee/contractor training forms, and processes to be 100% HIPAA compliant. What a relief to have someone on our side!

On April 20th, SAGE Speech & Learning Associates is hosting Dana Durrett for a FREE meet & greet session. Dana will discuss his very reasonably priced consultation package, designed for the needs of individual therapists, small and medium sized practices.  You can ask him questions, gain perspective, and decide if he is the right fit for your practice.

Our goal is to bring all practices in the Metro Atlanta area together to build a strong and long lasting community.  The hope is Dana can help your practice thrive for years to come in the way he helped SAGE Speech & Learning Associates- in just one morning!
